Ironroad Breakfast

The Ironroads continued their General Conference Breakfast Tradition today. Amazing food as always. Thanks guys! A few of the Brothersons didn't come (we missed you!) but it was still a full house. Haylie & I joked that this was the least chaotic that this tradition has ever been. LOL I think it was because Matt brought out an extra table and everyone had a chair to sit in. Glory sat by Matt and even shared her food with him. He is a very lucky man! ;) Did I mention the food as amazing? We had bagels with cream cheese, the yummiest white bread ever, English muffins, all kinds of other muffins- chocolate chip, lemon poppyseed, blueberry, apple cinnamon & chocolate, eggs with bacon, sausage, bananas, hashbrowns, and 4 or 5 different juices. YUM! I ate enough that I don't think I ate anything else the rest of the day. ;)
We got watched a few speakers from the morning session of General Conference before we had to take off for other things. We even worked it out that we didn't have to do the ASL this time. LOL. I always love that we can hear a living Prophet speak to us. We are very blessed.
Instead of Conference Bingo this time, I found a little fabulous General Conference Journal for the kids to do. It kept them busy and semi-quiet. Fabulous! Of course they also had the Ironroad toy box in the hallways and each other. What great kids!
Thanks Ironroads for inviting us. We love it!

General Conference: Fall 2010

It was, as usual, a glorious Conference weekend! So many things to lift, inspire, touch and overwhelm me. There was so much to soak in. I can't wait to read it when it comes out on Thursday. Is that not amazing???---The leaps and bounds that technology has made. The entire Conference weekend- all 11 or so hours- will be available in writing within 4 days online. It just amazes me!
For me, there was lots of talks on the role and responsibilities of parents. Something that obviously engulfs me 24/7. All which gave me a thump in my throat as I felt the Spirit whispering to my heart those things I have to work on. I also heard many that talked about Prayer! Something that I have been meaning to be better about.
My favorite talk by far however, was President Monson's Sunday morning talk on Gratitude. It was a little freaky actually. Remember how I decided to start my Fargo Favorites to express my gratitude? There was so much that I had talked about, read about and thought about this week that was completely reiterated (sometimes word for word) by the Prophet!!! It totally gave me the chills. The Lord is definitely mindful of ME!!! Thank You, Heavenly Father for talking to me so specifically this weekend! I cannot even begin to tell Thee how much I am grateful for the blessings thou pours upon me daily!
I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Jesus Christ's Church here upon the earth! After weekends like this, I cannot deny that God speaks to a Prophet and Apostles in these days! He is mindful of us, our circumstances, our hearts, and all those things we face. What a magnificent experience it is to be blessed by a loving Father in Heaven!
This is the aerial view of beautiful Conference Center in Salt Lake City where they broadcasted Conference from. Isn't it amazing?

Conference Breakfast @ the Ironroads

One of our Favorite traditions is when the Ironroads make us breakfast before the Saturday morning General Conference Session. It's always with our little adoptive family- Matt, Haylie & 1/2, Sean, Kristen, Ellen, Ethan, Mason, Bryn, London, Bronwyn, Gwen, Liberty, Justice, Victoria, Glory and me (& Brett when he's not away on a exotic vacation. LOL! Missed ya, Honey! ;). OK... so "little" might be an understatement. LOL! It's so fun and crazy and we love it! Matt is a fabulous cook and I always go away completely stuffed. So much that I have to remind myself to feed my children something later because I'm never hungry until late dinnertime. Thanks Matt! It was YUMMMY!
After breakfast, we always crowd into the living room to find a spot to watch Conference (at least see how much we can watch until the craziness takes over and we leave Matt & Haylie to their peace and quiet.;). This time, there was something wrong with the sound. We could hear all the Choir music but nothing when it came to the speakers. We finally turned it on to the American Sign Language link and the sound somehow worked. Along with it though, we had an extra little distraction. It was so hilarious to watch some of the Interpreters. They were very animated to say the least! LOL! The one in the picture below was our favorite. He was happy yet animated! He did a fabulous job. Unfortunately, there were others that made us giggle a bit. Too funny! A Conference Session to remember for sure!
Thanks to the Ironroads for including us in your little BIG Fam tradition. Luv ya guys!

Hearing the Prophet Speak

What better and more uplifting way to spend Easter weekend than to listen to the Prophet and Apostles speak to us about the Savior? We had a fabulous weekend listening and watching the Semi-Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Technology today is so amazing. I can't even imagine those in the pioneer days that would sacrifice days and travel to hear the Prophet speak. Now, we go downstairs, flip on the computer and within a few clicks, we are watching it live in our our home from anywhere in the world. It's pretty amazing.
Here's our favorite parts of this Conference--
Brett:
Shay: I think my favorite talk was, by far, President Thomas S. Monson's talk about "If a man dies- Shall he live again?" He shared about trials of life and about Job and his question of this. He tesitified that the answer to this is found with the Savior on that Easter morn. He tesitifed of  the Savior's Atonement, sacrifice, death and resurrection. He is Risen!!! I add my testimony to that of this latter-day Prophet. I know that the Savior knows me--my trials, my family, my heart. He suffered for me and He has risen! May we all remember the Savior during this season of new life and always!!!
Liberty:  President Deiter F. Uchtdorf 's talk "Ye are My Hands" I liked the part where they carved in the statue "We are His Hands".
Justice:  Breakfast at the Ironroads
Victoria:  "That they singed"
Glory: Justice thinks she liked the breakfast too. Victoria agrees because Glory always has a messy face when she eats. LOL! :)

Also, one of my favorite things about this weekend was that I got to go to the Chapel for the Easter Sunday morning session with some of my dear friends. It was a marvelous session and so great to be able to sit and actually listen and soak it all in. As a mother of 4, that is a rarity. :) {and for those that heard Sister Beck's talk-- I am NOT whining just stating facts!!LOL} Thanks ladies for sharing that opportunity with me. Luv ya all! (Aren't we just such good-lookin' ladies?)

Conference Breakfast

This morning, we continued our fabulous tradition of Conference Breakfast @ the Ironroads. We LOVE this tradition! Matt & Haylie invite our family- Brett, Shay, Liberty, Justice, Victoria & Glory and the Brotherson family- Sean, Kristen, Ellen, Ethan, Mason, Bryn, London, Bronwyn and Gwen over to share a yummy meal and watch the first session of Conference. There was threat of the tradition changing locations due to a TV issue but personally I am glad that it worked out. I think Haylie thinks it gets pretty squishy but we just look at it as comfy!! :) The food is always great and we love all the company.
Thanks Matt & Haylie. We luv being apart of your fun tradition. Luv ya guys!
