Finished the BOM again

We finished reading the Book of Mormon again as a family. Yeah for us! It took us from Sept 26, 2009 to May 29, 2010 to make it through this time. Eight months and 3 days. It is so good for our family to hear the Word of God everyday. Sometimes it gets overwhelming but I know we are blessed for our efforts. I love the quote from President Ezra Taft Benson about the blessings available to those who study the Book of Mormon. “When individual members and families immerse themselves in the scriptures regularly and consistently, … Testimonies will increase. Commitment will be strengthened. Families will be fortified. Personal revelation will flow” (Ezra Taft Benson, “The Power of the Word,” Ensign, May 1986, 81).
We can also promise that reading the Book of Mormon will bring power to resist temptation and produce feelings of love within our families. President Benson said it this way, and the promise is sure: “There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path. The scriptures are called ‘the words of life’ (see D&C 84:85), and nowhere is that more true than it is of the Book of Mormon. When you begin to hunger and thirst after those words, you will find life in greater and greater abundance. These promises—increased love and harmony in the home, greater respect between parent and child, increased spirituality and righteousness—these are not idle promises, but exactly what the Prophet Joseph Smith meant when he said the Book of Mormon will help us draw nearer to God” (The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, 54).
How awesome are those promises!!!??? Sign me up! Whatever it takes- we will keep studying the Word of God as a family!

Everytime we finish the Book of Mormon as a family, we reward ourselves with a special dinner at Space Aliens. The kids get so excited! Food, games, togetherness and dessert! Perfect way to celebrate!
This time we also went to the movies! We saw Hop at the Safari. The kids really liked it.
This next time through the Scriptures we are trying something new. I bought the book, Scripture Study for Latter-Day Saint Families: The Book of Mormon. It's a little more in depth study than just reading it from cover to cover. We're excited! We'll let ya know how it goes!
